RoseAuroraRed is DENALI's proprietary blend of rosehips from wild Arctic Rosa species, also hand-picked in Alaska's pristine wilderness and dried by RWD (click here). Like the berries used in AuroraBlue, these rosehips have been an important source of food and medicine for Alaska Natives for thousands of years. Although rosehips are widely recognized as an excellent source of natural Vitamin C, there is much more to their composition, especially in the rosehips from Alaska. When compared to commercially dried rosehip preparations from other parts of the world, these rosehips were found to contain, overall, 8-10X higher levels of principal components, although some were even higher.

AuroraRed includes 1.5% (wt/wt) flavonoids, including catechins, and 0.6% (wt/wt) organic acids. The flavonoids of interest include luteolin, quercetin, hyperoside, phloridzin, and organic acids that include ellagic, chlorogenic, and protocatechuic, among many others. Quercetin and ellagic acid, for example, were found to occur at 10X the levels in the nutritional and medicinal 'gold standard', the European dog rose. AuroraRed possesses 1.7% (wt/wt) lycopene and related carotenoids, Vitamin C (average 300% DRI*) and niacin (average 73% DRI), and an ORAC value of >1400 TE/g. For additional data, please contact us here.

rosehAuroraRed has a mild flavor and neutral color, making it an ingredient that can be worked into many types of formulations. In addition to capsules, powder mixes, liquid supplements, and beverages, it could be incorporated as a functional ingredient in cereals and energy bars. Naturally, AuroraRed is excellent in combination with AuroraBlue in berry and other fruit-based products, as it imparts a complementary array of flavonoids and carotenoids unique to Arctic rosehips. Likewise, AuroraRed may be added along with DENALI's AuroraGreen to vegetable-based mixes, without altering the flavor or color, while offering alternate benefits of fruit phytonutrients.
