AuroraGreen™

AuroraGreen is DENALI's proprietary whole herb blend of wild Taraxacum species (meadow dandelions). For Alaska Natives and cultures worldwide where dandelions grow unimpeded by herbicides targeted on their eradication, this plant is another mainstay of traditional food and medicinal preparations. The dandelions used in AuroraGreen are a pure and natural source of many key nutrients. Exceptional amounts of Vitamins A, B-complex, and C, and the minerals calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper, iron, and phosporous are present in the leaves, whereas flowers are rich in Vitamin D.

The general health supportive and healing powers of dandelions for a variety of ailments, including dyspepsia, heartburn, kidney, spleen and liver complaints, hepatitis and anorexia, are well documented recently in traditional and modern scientific literature (J Ethnopharmocol. 107(3):313-323, 2006). Researchers have paid particular attention to diuretic, choleretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-carcinogenic, analgesic, anti-hyperglycemic, anti-coagulatory and prebiotic effects of dandelions. The whole plant and roots contain a long list of bioactive flavonoids and terpenoids that deserve further evaluation of their role in mediating these health benefits.

AuroraGreen is carefully pre-processed and dried by RWD (click here) to preserve the complex nutrient composition and potency of dandelions, while minimizing the microbial count associated with including rootstock from the whole herb in the finished product. AuroraGreen posesses a characteristically dark yellowish-green color, and slightly bitter flavor attributed to its terpenoid profile. Both of these properties are easily masked by other ingredients used at levels reported to achieve health benefits.
