DENALI's team has extensive experience in bioprospecting natural products from extreme environments in the Alaska wilderness. Samples have been collected from remote permafrost tundra, glaciers, rainforest floor, acid bogs, volcanic calderas, hotsprings, gold mines, ocean and shoreline, to name a few locations. Throughout the last decade, more than 10,000 plant, moss, lichen, mushroom, soil, sediment, and marine samples have been collected for the Company's in-house research efforts and those of many others with discovery and development programs in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, enzymes and biocatalysts, and fine chemicals.

In addition to bioprospecting for raw sample materials, DENALI can perform extractions on samples, as well as isolate and identify microbial species from terrestrial and aquatic sources. In particular, we have bioprospected for natural product pharmacophores for synthetic modification and combinatorial chemistry programs, nucleic acids with commercially valuable properties and protein products, and microorganisms with novel metabolic capabilities.

Likewise, the DENALI team can assist nutraceutical companies interested in adding unique ingredients to their line of dietary supplements. We help to identify source materials, locate regions where sufficient supply is available, and arrange logistics and legal access to desired locations.

All of DENALI's bioprospecting activities are conducted under pre-arranged legal terms covered by a "Biodiversity Access Agreement", in which the landholder of the prospecting site is aware of our activities and intent to commercialize potential products. Depending upon the circumstances, the landholder receives a minimum of a modest royalty to a negotiated profit-sharing arrangement. The landholders in DENALI's network include federal and state agencies, Alaska Native corporations and allotment recipients, and private entities.
